The RED DOOR

2 May 2021

title_4k copy In light of the change to restrictions announced by the government on Thursday evening, we’ve made the call to not gather this Sunday for our 10am and 4pm services at Hammond Road but to instead gather in HouseChurch groups. The current updated restrictions, that will come into effect as of Saturday, allow for gatherings in homes of up to 30 people. Therefore, you will be able to gather this weekend with your HouseChurch group and we’d really encourage you to do so. Youth will again gather via Zoom.

As usual all the content will be available as soon as possible at www.thereddoor.cc/house

Just to note, under the updated restrictions we are allowed to gather again corporately but the wearing of masks would be required. Wearing masks in a corporate worship gathering is challenging for a number of different reasons which is why we made the call to do HouseChurch instead. This Sunday we had planned to do our Red Door Report. For the uninitiated, the Red Door Report is something we do annually where we give an update on all the facts and stats relating to our church and present key thoughts on the way forward for Red Door. It’s a really important Sunday in the life of our church.

Because it is so important, we did wrestle with whether doing the Red Door Report via video in a HouseChurch context was the best option and if it would actually be better to postpone it. But, as we prayed and pondered, we decided that there was a real opportunity for the Report to be shared in this way. The key benefit we felt was that the HouseChurch context provides an opportunity for what is presented to not just be heard but to be discussed and prayed through also. Due to the significant nature of parts of this years Report we believe this will be incredibly helpful for us all.

If you are not yet in a HouseChurch group you can still do HouseChurch with your family or on your own depending on your circumstances. We know this isn’t ideal for some but we would still love for you to be a part of what is being shared this weekend.

The Good Friday Walkthrough 2021

The Good Friday Walkthrough is a guided tour of four stations of the cross through the church building, appropriate for all ages. It is a great opportunity to bring friends and family along. The walkthrough should take around 50 minutes and there is no cost. We are asking everyone to book a time for your group. Groups of up to 11 people will enter the walkthrough at a time, please ensure children are included when you book in your group.

The walkthrough this year took place on Thursday 1st April between 12pm and 9pm, and Friday 2nd April between 9am and 6pm.

This Sunday 14th Feb

14feb Today the 12th February, the WA government has confirmed the return to pre-lockdown life from 12.01am Sunday, 14 February. This means the whole of Western Australia will return to the pre-lockdown conditions, as experienced prior to 6pm on Sunday, 31 January. As a result we will be holding a 10am and 4pm service on the 14th of February for a maximum of 250 people in unit 4, and 120 for units 5 and 6 each. RedKids will be running in the morning and Stomping Ground and Red Door Youth at the 4pm service.

We are also holding a ‘Join the Family’ session at 12pm in the unit 4 auditorium this Sunday. If you are new to Red Door and you’re wondering what the next step for connection might be, it’s important to come and hear from Adam & Dale who’ll be communicating where we’ve come from and what we’re about, where we’re going and how you can be part of that. There is no need to register just show up.

You will be required to register upon arrival at our registration station located in the entrance corridor of unit 4. There are two ways to record your attendance, via the SafeWA app or the manual handwritten slip on entry. People under 16 years of age are not required to register. More info at www.safewa.health.wa.gov.au

Thanks to everyone who participated in HouseChurch last Sunday. Due to the 7th of February being a forced HouseChurch, our planned HouseChurch of the 28th February will be postponed till the 28th March. In short the 28th February will be normal services at 10am and 4pm.

A word on masks! Generally we try to avoid the wearing of masks in church (the metaphorical kind) and as of Sunday the wearing of physical masks is no longer required. Yay. If however, you still want to wear a mask for health, or perhaps for fashion reasons, you are more than welcome to.
